Back in Texas Hill Country and My Jane J-8

Encouraging words of the day -

1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) 3 And everyone went to his own town to register. 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.  - Luke 2: 1-5 (NIV)

We’re in the Texas Hill Country, drove up from El Paso on Saturday.  It was a 7-hour drive and I got a lot of hand-sewing done.  I made a few hexie flowers which I’ll post for One-Flower Wednesday.  I also got some of  “My Jane” blocks done so I was quite productive.  I won’t post everything I made so I’ll have something to post on those days when I’ve done nothing, har har.  I’m learning to be tricky that way . . . Here is J-8. It was pretty easy.  I paper-pieced the middle and appliqued the melons on the corners.

Giveaways I've run into:

Quilt Story is having a giveaway.  You could win a $40 credit to Five Monkey Fabrics.  This giveaway ends Monday, December – so this is the last day.
Hawthorne Threads is having their weekly giveaway.  You could win a Joyful Garden fat quarter bundle.  This giveaway ends  Wednesday, December 21.

Speaking of giveaways, I was lucky to win a recent giveaway from  "Annies Ruby Slipperz"  and have received  5 fat quarters from her Mystery Monday giveaway. She asked for my favorite colors which are greens and turquoise and sent me:
Thanks so much.  I will certainly put them to good use.

That is all.

Wow, seven hours driving time. It must be nice to have someone else in the family who drives.

Car drives are the best for hand stitching! Glad to see you were able to get lots done.

Your DJ block looks fabulous. Maybe 2012 will be my year for starting mine.

I love the color combination of green and aqua. Beautiful fabrics.
