Merry Christmas, Everyone.

I, as so many of you, am going to be taking a break from blogging for a few days in order to celebrate Christ's birth and enjoy some family time. I wish all of you a blessed Christmas. May you enjoy your family and experience a peaceful Christmas.

That is all.

One-Flower Wednesday Somewhere?

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Surely is it still Wednesday somewhere. Maybe? Anyway, you know how much I enjoy "One-Flower Wednesday" and I did prepare my flowers on a recent road-trip to New Mexico. Here are three little 1/2 inch hexie flowers hanging out with Santa on my Christmas tree.

As always, thank you Karen from "Journey of a Quilter" for providing the linky. You can go to her blog to see the hexie flowers others have made.

The only other sewing I've done are these aprons I made for my three college-age nieces. The three say they're interested in cooking....

That is all.

Making Venison Jerky on One-Flower Wednesday and My Jane J-9

Encouraging Words of the Day:

"Pray without ceasing." ~Thess. 5:17

I know we're all busy this time of year but repeatedly, throughout the day, we can turn quickly to God to praise and thank Him, and to ask for His help. God is interested in everything we do, and nothing is too great or too insignificant to share with Him.

It's "One-Flower Wednesday" once again. Wednesday is more than half-way gone here but I did have my flowers done, just haven't had a chance to post them. Hubby and I have been making venison jerky all morning, then off to run a few errands, a hurried lunch, and back home again so here I am, finally posting my 1/2-inch flowers.

I've also managed to get a block made for My Jane. J-9 was paper-pieced and then the little, and I mean little, melons were appliqued onto the block. Those little melons are about 1/2 inch long and were hard to do. I used the needle-turn applique and finally got them on.

I'm off to check the jerky, wrap some gifts, and my sister suggests I use the exercise bike she gave me. I put it up in the living room, in front of the tv so I could use it easily. I've gotten so used to not using it that I don't even see it any more. I think I'll go check the jerky.

That is all.

Blog Hop Party and Giveaway

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Advent is a time of quiet preparation for the birth of Jesus. We reflect on those aspects of our lives that are in need of renewal, and offer our gratitude for the many gifts we experience each day.

Long ago the prophet Isaiah promised that “the Lord himself will give you this sign: the Virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Emmanuel.” Jesus is that sign for us. He dwells as God among us, the center of our faith and the foundation of our hope. May your prayers bring you blessings this Advent.

Thrift Shop Haul and One Flower Wednesday

Encouraging Words of the Day:

"And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!' ~ Matthew 25:40, NLT

We are in New Mexico for a few days visiting my parents. Mama and I "shopped til we dropped" today. We got some Christmas shopping done and then I had to go to the AT & T store to have my contacts and "stuff" transferred from my old iPhone to my new Samsung Galaxy S3. They told me it would take about 30 minutes so Mama and I decided to step into a nearby Thrift Store while we waited. Well, that was a great decision. We found a bin full of fabric and had a wonderful time looking through it!

Great day. We got all that fabric for $5.00.

Today is also "One-Flower Wednesday" when Karen at "Journey of a Quilter" provides a linky for us to show off our flowers each week. I sewed up two flowers for my December swap partner in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap" so that was cool. She asked for pastels with a white center. Both centers are white although one does look yellowish.

That is all.

Letters From Home and 3rd Annual Neighborhood Party

Encouraging Words of the Day:

The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. ~ Psalm 28:7, NLT

About a month ago, I entered a giveaway for a very interesting book. Ellie at "Craft Sew Create" offered a giveaway of a book written by her mother who had a terrible accident at work that left her totally immobilized. As she struggled with what was happening, she longed to find comfort in her beloved scriptures, but wished it had been easier to quickly access her favorite verses. She searched for a book that could give her just that, but it was nowhere to be found. So with the time that her recuperation gave her, she wrote the book that she longed to have. I didn't win the giveaway but Ellie's mother was so generous that she gave a copy of the book to everyone who entered the giveaway.

The book is compiled from the best-loved verses and stories in the King James version of the Bible. It's organized by the different roles our Father in Heaven has in our lives: Creator, Deliverer, Lawgiver, Father, Savior, Comforter, and Teacher. There is also an area where you can add your favorite scriptures to truly personalize it. I was so happy to find my favorite Psalm 91 on page 52. The book is called "Letters from Home" and is available at this link if you're interested.

Thank you so much Ellie and Mrs. Fitzell (author). I can see already that this is a book that I will be using over and over.

On another topic:

Oops, I did something dumb again. Why is no one surprised? I was sewing my house block to enter the "Third Annual Neighborhood Party" hosted by Beth at "Love Laugh Quilt." Well, I had finished my block and had started making an extra block for a charity quilt Beth is planning along with the Neighborhood Party. I was happily snipping away the extra fabric from paper-piecing the charity block when, all of a sudden, the fabric layers seemed too thick. Here's what I did:

Darn. How do I keep doing stuff like this.? Fortunately, the cut was in a place where with a little zig-zag stitching and creativity, a clothesline was created. "All's well that ends well."

And here's the charity block created. When I chose the fabric, it looked like it would work, but now it looks kind of busy. I think I still like it.

That is all.
