Giveaway and One Flower Wednesday

Encouraging Words of the Day:

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. ~ Isaiah 40:31, NLT

It's "One-Flower Wednesday" and I'm still working on 1/2-inch hexies. I'm planning on one day finishing a traditional "Grandmother's Flower Garden" quilt made up entirely of 1/2-inch hexies. I haven't even begun to figure out how many little flowers that will take. Anyway, here are 3 more. There's a make-do that's pretty obvious on this one.

I'm embroidering like crazy on my new embroidery machine so that's all I've done lately. Well, not exactly just embroidering but learning how to do stuff with it too. Oh, except for Hexathon Hexie # 38 which I finished on a recent road trip to New Mexico to visit my parents.

Last thing: Reminder about my "Happy Birthday & 300th Post Giveaway." Today's post is # 299 so when I post the winner on Saturday, March 2nd, that will be my 300th post. Click on the link below to enter:

Two winners will be chosen to win these selections of 6 fat quarters each.Jungle Fever

or Springtime.

Birthday Giveaway and 300th Post

Encouraging Words of the Day:

My heart is confident in you, O God; my heart is confident. No wonder I can sing your praises! ~ Psalm 57:7, NLT

What? I just noticed that this is post #298 for me. How did that sneak up on me? Well, since I'm celebrating my birthday by having a giveaway and giving you a choice of two fat quarter bundles, how about I give away both bundles in celebration of my upcoming 300th post? So there will be two winners and I'll give away both bundles. These 6 fat quarters are called "Jungle Fever" by Luella Doss for Westminster Fabrics.

These 6 fat quarters are from my stash and I'm calling them the "Springtime Collection."

Just leave me a comment letting me know that you're a follower and which bundle you prefer if you are the chosen winner. The remaining bundle will go to the second name drawn.

For a second chance to win, post this giveaway on your blog and let me know that you did so. Ends on Friday, March 1st at midnight, MST. I'll have the Random Number Generator pick the names and post the winners on Saturday, March 2nd. Please post your comments HERE.

Thank you for following and good luck.

That is all.

Birthday Giveaway and My Wonderful Birthday Gifts

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever. ~ Psalm 106:1, NLT

...{░♥░♥░} ♫ BIRTHDAY ♪ ♫

I received a wonderful birthday present from my husband. It was actually my sister, Ida from "My sister made me do it..." blog who made ME do something. After she bought her wonderful Brother PE500 embroidery machine and showed me all the beautiful things it can make by embroidering these seasonal hanging towels for me so I have one to display for each holiday or season that comes along,

well, I just had to have my own PE500. Of course I told my husband that he didn't have to worry about getting my birthday present this year because I had done the shopping for him :) Here it is:

Love it, love it although I've just made a couple of things with it since it just arrived on Wednesday. What a wait! I'm one that definitely thrives on instant gratification so the 5-day wait was torture.

On my birthday and, to continue the celebration, I always like to have a giveaway for my followers. Everyone loves fabric so that's the route I'll take. How about 5 fat quarters? Yep, here they are and all you have to do is be a follower so let me know in a comment below and "good luck!"

This is "Jungle Fever: by Luella Doss for Westminster Fabrics.

Ok, if you're not wild about "Jungle Fever," not wild about "Jungle Fever?" Get it? I said "not wild about..." Nevermind. Here's another option, springtime fabrics:

In your comment, let me know if prefer the "Jungle Fever" or the springtime fabrics if you are the winner.

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday and Loving it

Encouraging Words of the Day:

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.~ Hebrews 4:16, NLT

Once again, it's "One-Flower Wednesday." I'm back in El Paso and usually sew my hexies in the evenings but I have a new toy keeping me busy. My new toy is an early birthday present which I'll tell you all about on Friday. Ta da da da, ta da da da, I know the suspense is killing you, haha. But WAIT (sounds like a commercial), I'll be having a Birthday Giveaway and will be telling you about that on Friday as well.

Back to "One-Flower Wednesday:"

I made these three flowers to show you. I just love the little yellow lamb flower.

Click on “One Flower Wednesday” to see flowers others have made.

I'm also dying for this new quilting bee to get started. Somehow, I missed hearing about the first two in time to join. Stacey at "The Tilted Quilt" has started a Quilting Bee called "Get Your Hex On #3." This is the 3rd Bee she's started dedicated to those of us who love hexies. A few more are needed to get this 3rd Bee going so if you love sewing hexies like I do, think about it. You can go HERE to read more about it.

I also got my two blocks quilted for the "Pile of Fabric Quilt-Along." We're going to quilt-as-we-go quilting each block before they are somehow sewn together into a quilt. Here are my quilted blocks #1 & #2.

Then blocks #3 and #4 are completed. The next lesson will be how to FMQ each of these blocks.

Everyone have a wonderful day but for now...

That is all.

Get Your Hex On 3

Oh. I forgot to tell you about the new purple button on the left side of my page. Stacey at "The Tilted Quilt" has started a Quilting Bee called "Get Your Hex On #3." This is the 3rd Bee she's started dedicated to those of us who love hexies. She has two Bees already complely filled and somehow I missed out. A few more are needed to get this 3rd Bee going. The pattern/block will, of course, center around hexagons. As much as we all love hexagons, they can be a little time consuming, so please only join if you have the time to commit to one hexie block a month. You can also check out the Flickr group for more information.

That is all.

Back in El Paso With Gifts in the Mail

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance

~ 1 Corinthians 13:7, NLT

Where does the time go? I've been trying to post this since Friday. I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's Day. My husband and I went out for a nice lunch and then I spent a wonderful 3 hours with my sister fawning over her new embroidery machine and admiring all the lovely items she's made. We had such a great time. I'll have to show you what she "made me do" later (after it arrives).

We were gone for three weeks on our recent trip so there was a lot of mail waiting for us, the usual bills and such but there were also lovely packages waiting for me.

My friend Julianne from "Sister Outlaws" sent me the most marvelous gifts. She saw this lovely "Hexie" brooch at market and said it reminds her of me and my love for sewing hexies. I've also long admired the little tree she had in a previous blog header and she sewed that up for me. It's darling! Also included were some postcards of the "little tree" and all wrapped up in paper stamped with the words "Joy." Well, Julianne, your package did indeed bring me lots of JOY! Thanks so much.

Then I had my hexies waiting for both January and February for the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap." These are from Grit in Germany. She also included a cute card and bookmark. Thanks, Grit. They are perfect.

And Gayle from Ohio sent me THREE lovely hexie flowers in case I didn't like one. How generous you are with your time and hexies, Gayle. They are all beautiful. Thanks!

I've gotten back to my sewing room and am working on a few things. I'll save these for a later post. That will give me time to get something done...

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday and My Jane D-9 and D-10

Encouraging Words of the Day:

We've left Gulf Shores but what a marvelous time we had with our OFOFs (Old Farts and Old Friends). We returned to our little ranch where we spent a few days and will be returning to El Paso today.
I sewed up a storm with my little 1/2 inch hexies while sitting in airports so here are three for "One Flower Wednesday." There isn't a "make-do" but one does look a little strange. I do NOT know what happened to it. Looks like I might have dropped it and then stepped on it since there's little "tread-mark" look to that stain. That's one of the casualties of sewing on-the-go. It's a keeper.

Remember you can visit "One Flower Wednesday" to see flowers others have made.

I also continue to sew a "My Jane" block whenever I can. I've got two to show you today. Here's D-10 which was easy paper-piecing until I got to those little-bitty triangles on the outer edges. They were just hard to sew because they're so small.

D-9 went together like a paper-pieced dream. No problems here.

I'm usually slow getting my "One-Flower Wednesday" post done. Today I'm posting on Tuesday night before I go to bed since I'll be on the road all day on Wednesday so here goes! Have a wonderful day.

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday at Gulf Shores

Encouraging Words of the Day:

We're loving it at the Gulf Shores but I'm thinking about my blog friends and popped in for "One Flower Wednesday." I made these flower's in the airport waiting to get to Gulf Shores. I do some hand-stitching while we drive into town and here are the flowers I've made. One is a make-do just because I thought it was time to make one. Can you find it? Remember the make-do is a petal that's a lot like the others but is still a little different. Sounds like Sesame Street..."One of these things is not like the other...."

Remember you can visit "One Flower Wednesday" to see flowers others have made.

That is all.
