Design Wall Monday

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you.

~ 1 Peter 5:7, NLT

We spent all day yesterday traveling to our little ranch in the Texas Hill Country. I sewed on my hexies but I'm waiting until One-Flower Wednesday to show those to you. Instead, I'm showing you what's on my design wall at the ranch. Yes, I have a design wall with UFOs hanging on it too. I'm determined to finish at least one of them while we're here this time. One is a mini quilt depicting the 12 months of the year. That's almost finished. It needs the 3 Bs - borders, backing and binding. The other is a tablecloth showing different items found in and around our ranch house; oak trees, ATVs, hogs, deer, and wildflowers. This is the center part of a future tablecloth or tabletopper.

Go HERE to view what others have on their design walls.

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday and My Jane F10 and H11

Encouraging Words of the Day:

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. ~ Psalm 19:14, NLT

Once again we find ourselves at "One-Flower Wednesday." The flowers I'm showing you today have a different look since I'm making them for a block in a quilt-along I've joined. It's supposed to end up looking kind of like a chevron when they're finally sewn together. Anyway...

Click on “One Flower Wednesday” to see flowers others have made.

Other than that, I've been preparing for some hand-sewing since we'll be going to the Texas Hill Country on the weekend. I've cut out all the hexie shapes to complete the chevron and also the shapes for a couple of hexathons I hope to finish. There's also a crochet project I've been working on that I can take and then...there's always a lot of hand-sewing I can do. I'm thinking of starting a Baltimore Album Quilt. Somebody please talk me out of this since I want to complete "My Jane" some day. Oh, which reminds me, here are a couple of "My Jane" blocks that are finished. They're both rather crooked but H-11 was the difficult one. Those little pointy pieces on the corners of both of them were "killers."

That is all.

Design Wall Monday and Finished Hands 2 Help Quilts

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Always be full of joy in the Lord, I say it again-rejoice! ~ Philippians 4:4, NLT

Here's what has been on my design wall for the longest time. I still have several joining hexagons to make. The center picture was paper-pieced by my sister Ida at "my sister made me do it..." It's an excellent replica of our little ranch house in the Texas Hill Country. Hexagons surrounding it are a likeness to the area around our little house but I still have a long way to go.

You can see what others have on their design wall here.

I haven't been working much on that lately but I did finish two charity quilts for "Hands 2 Help." One is an I-Spy Quilt

and the other is the Argyle Quilt which I made for a Quilt-Along.

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday Flowers and Sphere Started

Encouraging Words of the Day:

The steadfast love of The Lord never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. ~ Lamentations 3:22 (NRSV)

Hello, "One Flower Wednesday." I'm glad you're here and here are my flowers on this beautiful spring day.

I've recently joined a quilting bee called "Get Your Hex On #3." This is a bee dedicated to those of us who love hexies so it was perfect for me. I'm the "Queen Bee" for April and chose a pattern by Geta Grama called "The Flower Ball." I've already received four flowers made by others and have started adding them to the flowers (or pieces of flowers) that I've made. Here's what I have so far:

One Flower Wednesday and My Jane M 11

Encouraging Words of the Day

Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy.

~ Psalm 100:2, NLT

Once again it's "One Flower Wednesday." I'm killing "two birds with one stone" today and showing you the flowers I made for my partner in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap." She asked for yellow petals with a black center so these are now off to Karyli in Idaho.

Also, slowly moving, but non-the-less moving along with "My Jane." Here is M-11, easy paper-piecing.

In yesterday's mail I had a nice surprise. I won this interesting charm pack from "Patchwork Duck." It's called "Word Play" and, interestingly enough, each charm has "words" on it. Thanks so much to Nicole.

That is all.

Beautiful Gifts on One Flower Wednesday

Encouraging Words of the Day:

You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me! I sing for you because of what you have done. ~ Psalm 92:4, NLT

We're back in El Paso, Texas and what beautiful days we're having. Spring in El Paso is a beautiful time of year. We arrived to a backyard of flowers in full-bloom. My husband is in heaven as he loves working in the yard (and I love that he loves this :)

Today he'll be enjoying planting more flowers while I'm off to have lunch and spend time with my sister Ida but before I go, I have flowers of my own to show you. It's "One Flower Wednesday" and I sewed these up on the way back to El Paso, three little 1/2-inchers.

There were also packages of lovely things waiting for me in the mail. Julie from "My Quilt Diary" wrote about the "Dark Sucker Theory." I had heard of this before and had lost my copy and Julie graciously shared her copy with me. I was thrilled to find it in my mail. Thanks, Julie.

Also in my mail was a beautiful mug rug from Maria who sent this all the way from Austrialia for the "Rugs With Friends" group. She also included two lovely fat quarters of spring birds and a pile of colorful buttons along with some rick-rack. Thanks for a lovely package, Maria.

That is all.

Nothing but UFOs in 2013 group

Encouraging Words of the Day:

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance. ~ 1 Peter 1:3-4a, NLT

I'm again linking up with Carrie's "Nothing but UFOs in 2013" group.

I need to post 3 UFOs and I certainly have them. One is in such near-forgotten status that for a while I couldn't even find it. This is an I-Spy quilt that i started and want to finish up for "Hands 2 Help" charity quilts. It needs to be sandwiched, quilted and bound.

This is the bed runner I'm making for my Mother for Mother's Day. I'm thinking that this is the one I'll finish first since Mother's Day is coming up on May 12th. The quilting has been done but it needs the applique work finished and the binding applied.

And finally, I have this ugly quilt to finish. It started out being beautiful but this UFO is to the point that I don't even like this maroon color any more. It needs sandwiching, quilting, and binding. Do you know how hard it is to work on a quilt that you no longer like?

Check out the links HERE to see what others are trying to finish.

That is all.
