One Flower Wednesday and My Jane H-7

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Be confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. ~ Philippians 1:6, NLT

We returned to rain in El Paso after spending a glorious week in the Texas Hill Country. Rain in El Paso is great news since we're located in the Chihuahuan Desert and only receive about 10 inches of rain per year. We're located along the mighty Rio Grande River and it often runs dry this time of year.

On to the topic of the day, "One-Flower Wednesday!" I sewed up two little flowers on the road trip back home.

Click on “One Flower Wednesday” to see flowers others have made and to link up the flowers you've sewn.

"My Jane" continues in my thoughts and from time to time, I do sew up another block. Here is H-7.

I enjoyed sewing this block as it went together quickly and easily and only came out a "little bit crooked."

I also worked on my Baltimore Album block on the road trip and will show you what I finished on Friday but for now...

that is all.

Hello, Rocksprings on One Flower Wednesday

Encouraging Words of the Day:

For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory.

~ Psalm 84:11, NLT

Hello, Rocksprings! Yes, we've arrived in the Texas Hill Country. The Hill Country has received rain and is looking beautiful in Rocksprings, Texas. Here's a photo of what I saw looking out my door this morning.

The grass is dry but the trees and plants are green and beautiful. And, in keeping with the theme, here are a couple of 1/2-inch hexies I completed on the road trip out, two flowers composed of beautiful flowers.

Thanks, Karen for keeping me on task sewing hexie flowers with the link your provide us each week at "One-Flower Wednesday!" You can click on “One Flower Wednesday” to see flowers others have made too.

Also completed is a mini quilt top I made called "Mini Baskets." Something went wrong in my color selection. You're supposed to be able to see 4 baskets among all those squares and triangles but they "some how" got lost. Anyway, it will make a nice something. For now, it's fun to figure out how in the world there are supposed to be baskets in there :)

I'm off to enjoy this beautiful day before it gets to hot so, for now...

that is all.

One Flower Wednesday and My Baltimore Start

Encouraging Words of the Day:

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me ~ Psalm 16:8, NLT

Hello "One-Flower Wednesday!" I'm still sewing 1/2-inch hexie flowers and I guess I'll be doing that for a long time before I ever get enough to make a quilt top. Not only that, but just sewing one or two per week? Well, anyway, here are 2 more:

I have also received these June flowers from Geraldine in the UK, my partner for June at the "Inchy-Hexagon Flower Swap." Thanks so much. They are lovely indeed and will look wonderful in my "Friends of the World" quilt which I will also complete - "some day...."

I've started a new project. Yes, I know that I don't need to be starting new projects but don't you agree that it's so much more fun to start a new project than it is to finish any of the ones already started? I decided that I want to make a Baltimore Album Quilt and have finished two blocks. Here is the first one.

Now, I'm off to work on some of my on-going projects, maybe back to "My Jane: or my "Farmer's Wife" or my Christmas quilt or...

That is all.

Me and Sunny and Starting a Christmas Quilt

Encouraging Words of the Day:

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things~ Galatians 5:22, NLT

Recently, I posted on my blog that I would be visiting Virginia during the month of June. Well, one of my blog buddies asked me where I would be and when I told her, she told me that she lived about an hour away from my son. We emailed each other back and forth and set up a time for us to meet. Knowing that I am unfamiliar with most of the area, she volunteered to drive the distance and meet for lunch and that's how I ended up meeting with a friend I met in Blogland, Sunny from "Quilting Dreams." Here's a photo of "Me and Sunny."

What a marvelous time we had getting to know each other. Sunny even knew where a near-by quilt shop was so we did a little quality shopping as well.

A while back I joined Beaquilter's Quilt-Along. I've been wanting to sew a Christmas quilt for the longest time and I've decided that the time is now. I'll be sewing Beaquilter's Sampler Blocks in Christmas fabrics. Here are the first 4 blocks.

Did you hear that Hobby Lobby has all their McCall's patterns on sale for 99 cents? Their craft patterns sell for $14.95 and up so I'm off to stock up. Last day it July 13th, today. So saying...

that is all.

One Flower Wednesday and Other Hexie Projects

Encouraging Words of the Day:

No power in the sky above or in the earth below - indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God. ~ Romans 8:39, NLT

Yes, we're back from spending the entire month of June away from home. Well, we spent exactly 2 days at home and then we were off to my parent's home in New Mexico to spend the 4th of July celebrations with our family. We had a wonderful time, too much to eat and drink of course. It was wonderful, however, to spend time with my parents, siblings, and their families. None of my children were able to attend but there were nieces and nephews all over the place, around 26 people and sometimes more as friends dropped by also. We returned to El Paso on Monday and I'm just now sitting down to post something, just in time for "One-Flower Wednesday." What I got done was two flowers for my July swap partner in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap." She requested polka dot fabric with white centers. So saying, I'm "killing 2 birds with one stone." Ta da...

Check out "One-Flower Wednesday" to see flowers others have posted. Thanks, Karen, for keeping us on task.

Staying with the "hexagon theme," I've also completed two projects for the June Queen Bee and the July Queen Bee in the "Get Your Hex On #3 Quilting Bee." This is a bee dedicated to those of us who love hexies.

Next post I'll be telling you about a nice visit I had with a friend I found in Blogland but for today...

that is all.

Good-by, Virginia. Hello One Flower Wednesday

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path. ~ Psalm 119:105, NLT

Good-by, Virginia. I'm back in El Paso today for "One-Flower Wednesday." We had a marvelous month but were gone the entire month of June. I took a picture of this little 1/2-inch hexie flower the day before we left so I'd have something to show you today. It's 3:00 pm here so I've almost missed "One-Flower Wednesday."

There's a pile of mail to be opened and I found these pretty flowers from my partner for May in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap."

Thanks so much, Erica. I really like the pretty colors you chose.

Now I'm off to finish the mail. I see some squishy packages there so I'm thinking I'll have other wonderful things to show you in my next post.

That is all.
