One-Flower Wednesday in California

Encouraging Words of the Day:
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. ~ Philippians 4:13, NLT
"One-Flower Wednesday" in California. We're having a wonderful time but it is just going by too fast. Here it is 8:00 pm in California and Thursday in many other places. I'm sitting under a tree, enjoying a cool breeze, watching my grandson's football practice, and finally writing my blog post on my iPad. I sewed up two little half-inchers.

Before we left El Paso, I sewed up these little hexie baskets. They're portable as you can unbutton them and they lay flat. Nice for carry-with-you needlework to hold whatever. I use them to hold my "hilachas" (thread snippits) when I travel.
Thanks as always to Karen for keeping us on task sewing flowers. Click on “One Flower Wednesday” to see flowers others have made.
I'm off for more family time. I hope everyone is enjoying what they're doing. Happy sewing!
That is all.

California, here I come on One Flower Wednesday

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Always be joyful. Never stop praying. ~ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-17, NL

Hello, "One-Flower Wednesday." Hello, California (in about 4 more hours.) We're on our way to visit our daughter and family but I wanted to get my "One-Flower Wednesday" post done. Here are 1/2 inch hexies #127 and #128. That's still a long way from the Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt I will someday complete.

Thanks as always to Karen for keeping us on task sewing flowers. Click on “One Flower Wednesday” to see flowers others have made.

These lovely flowers arrived in the mail this week. Coralie from Canada is my August partner for the "Inchy Hexagon Flowers Swap." Coralie said she made the one composed of stars for Texas. That's quite appropriate since we're the Lone Star State. The other made up of browns and grays for the up-coming fall season which will soon be upon us. Thanks, Coralie. They'll look great in my "Flowers of the World" project.

Catch you later from California.

That is all.

Christmas Quilt and Josh's Kitty Quilt

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.~ Isaiah 41:10, NLT

Finished are blocks #5 and #6 from Beaquilter's Sampler Block Quilt-Along. You can go here to check out blocks others have made. I'm making mine in Christmas fabrics so that I'll finally have a Christmas quilt.

Oh, my sister Ida at "My Sister Made Me Do It..." made a gorgeous quilt for her son Josh. She's entered it at Pet's on Quilts at Quilting Gallery show which begins today! Just click on the photo below to go ther to see here pretty quilt and maybe vote for it if you think it's as fabulous as I think it is.

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday, Flower Ball and My Jane E-13

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! His faithful love endures forever.

~ Psalm 106:1, NLT

Hello, "One-Flower Wednesday." Sometimes the other days of the week get away from me but I always try to post on "One-Flower Wednesday." Thanks go to Karen for keeping me on task sewing flowers as well as getting a blog post at least once a week. These two little half-inchers got done.

AND, I finally finished my "Flower Ball" (pattern by Geta Grama). The colored flowers were sewn by my friends in the "Get Your Hex On Hive #3" quilting bee. I embroidered the name of each seamstress on the flower she made.

And yes, I remember to sew a lock for "My Jane" from time to time. Here is E--13, easily paper-pieced with a little applique for the tiny side triangles.

I hope everyone is enjoying their summer or winter season.

That is all.

What a Day on One Flower Wednesday!

Encouraging Words of the Day:

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. ~ Romans 8:28, NLT

What a day! It's a good thing I did my "One-Flower Wednesday" flowers before today. I woke up today with the bright idea of hanging a quilt and some wall hangings. It was already hot by 8:00 am here but I went forward with my plans. I managed to make a disaster of my sewing room but, in the end, my Penny Haren Quilt found a home.

Notice the mess I made of my sewing table piling it up with drill parahenalia, nails, screws, hammers, drapery rods etc. Then, since I'd already made a mess, I decided (my sister also helped me decide) to move forward and make a place for some wall hangings. My sister, Ida, came up with a great idea. Easy for her to come up with great ideas for me to complete since she was in a nice air-conditioned fabric store and I was standing on a chair sweating (remember heat rises...). Anyway, Ida suggested I make a mini-clothesline so I can change my wall hangings easier so I ended up with this and then quit with that activity.

About "One-Flower Wednesday:" Here are my flowers.

My mailbox also held these pretty flowers from my swap partner in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap." Diane from New Jersey sent these. Thanks, diane, I like the pretty, delicate pink color.

That is all.

Baltimore Album Start

Encouraging Words of the Day:

The Lord is compassionate and merciful, slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love. ~ Psalm 103:8, NLT

It's Monday and I have to show you how my Baltimore Album quilt is progressing. I've finished 4 blocks!

Block 1

Block 2

Block 3

Block 4

I'm really enjoying this applique. The pattern I'm following is rather simple as Baltimore blocks go but I purposely chose something simple as I didn't want to get immediately overwhelmed. Since my husband and I are frequent travelers, I always like to have some hand-sewing available on road trips or airport waiting areas and this, along with my hexies, is perfect for hand-sewing. I'm happy.

That is all.

Nothing But UFOs in 2013

Encouraging Words of the Day:

This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it. ~ Psalm 118:24, NLT

Remember Carrie's "Nothing but UFOs in 2013" group. Well, it seems like I've been adding to those UFOs rather than finishing them. Nonetheless, I'm still going to try to finish these 3 this month:

1. There's still this ugly maroon quilt I want to finish. I just need to quilt and bind it.

2. The 12 Days of Christmas mini quilt. Maybe I'll have it done by Christmas, for sure I'll have it done if I finish it up this month :) It came out upside down but the first little block (bottom right in photo) is made up of 1 piece, the next is 2 pieces, the 3rd of 3 pieces and so on. All I have done are the 12 blocks but it is, after all, a mini quilt. How long could it take to finish, right?

3. All I need to do for the "Flower Ball," which my friends in the "Get Your Hex On #3" helped me create, is to applique it to the background and quilt it. Easy, right?

Since I'm posting this for the "Nothing but UFOs in 2013" group, I'll wait till Monday to show you how my Baltimore Album quilt is progressing. Nothing like adding a new UFO to the list, huh? I've finished 4 blocks!

That is all.
