Happy Easter and My Jane E8, G9, L3, L6

For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. ~ John 3:16

I'm sorry to say that I've been forced to put the hated "word verification" on my blog as I've been receiving a great number of spam comments. I'll put it on for a while and see if this stops them. Maybe I'll be able to remove it soon. Thank you for "bearing with me."

Meanwhile, I was able to work on "My Jane" who seems neglected from time to time. I've finished 4 this week. That's the most I've ever done in a week. The count is now 145 completed blocks.

G-9 (fast and easy paper-piecing)

E-8 (slow and tedious paper-piecing due to the small pieces)

L-6 (only hard part was lining up the lines - still somewhat crooked)
L-3 (looks hard but easy and fast paper-piecing)
Tomorrow we leave the beautiful Texas Hill Country to return to hot and dry El Paso in far West Texas so I'll be sewing on hexies for 6 hours. We've enjoyed our trip although spring was only visible for a couple of days. We'll be back in a month or so and the wildflowers should be in full bloom by then.

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday and Argyle Quilt Finish

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done ~ Philippians 4:6, NLT

We're back in the Texas Hill Country and the weather has not been nice. We went to visit our son in Ft. Worth, Texas and the weather was not nice there either. Of course we had a wonderful time with our son and a large family gathering. There were my parents, sisters and their spouses, nieces, nephews and their families so it was a good time.

As usual, I sewed on hexies on our 6-hour road trip. I made nine 1/2-inch hexies so I have the next two "One-Flower Wednesdays" covered. Here are three:

Oh. I finished my Argyle Quilt for the Quilt-Along. It's 49" x 67" which is an odd size but I just made it the size it end up wanting to be. It was a really fast quilt to make and turns out kind of cute :) Thanks to Jess at "Quilty Habit" for her excellent tutorial.

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday and Hexathon 18

Encouraging Words of the Day:

For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.~ Ephesians 2:10, NLT

We're back in the Texas Hill Country and, as usual, I sewed hexies on our 7-hour road trip. The Hill Country is welcoming spring by having the hills covered with Mountain Laurel in full bloom. Here are three of the 1/2 inch hexies posing in a Mountain Laurel bush in our yard:

I also finished Hexie #18 for the Hexathons I'm working on.

Now I'm off to feast my eyes on the beautiful blooms all around me on this beautiful first day of spring. Wishing everyone a lovely day as well.

That is all.

The Mystery of the Concealed Heart

Encouraging Words of the Day:
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. ~ Philippians 4:13, NLT
Welcome to another day of the Nancy Drew is a Clue Blog hop.
I have such great memories of Nancy Drew books when I was growing up. My sister and I used to walk to the library and come home loaded down with Nancy Drew and "The Hardy Boys" mystery books. What fun we had! Here's how the books looked on the library shelf, no dust covers to give one a clue.
So now now I'm here with "The Mystery of the Concealed Heart." We need our magnifying glass to start looking for a clue. I started working on my Nancy Drew project in the early part of February, with hearts in my mind. I found an easy and pretty pattern for a "Log Cabin Heart" and started there with my Nancy Drew and other matching fabrics. The Nancy Drew fabric was full of ideas. Of course, the first part was to grab the magnifying glass.
Well, you can find magnifying glasses in two places and, of course Nancy Drew follows the clues until she finds a little heart somewhere. Can you find the heart?
Thank you to Madame Samm and Carol from "Just Let Me Quilt" for putting this blog hop together! What a fun hop it has been. Be sure to check out all of the other Nancy Drew projects today. Here is the list.

One Flower Wednesday and My Jane F-8

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our afflictions so that we will be able to comfort those who are in any affliction with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. ~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Once again we find that it's "One Flower Wednesday." I've been working on 1/2-inch hexies and decided to spread them out and count them.

There are 96 and they cover a space about a yard square. Hmmmm, I guess I'll keep on sewing.

Meanwhile, I didn't even make a 1/2-inch hexie this week. Instead I made two 1-inch hexies for my partner in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap." We're having beautiful weather in Texas so I took the hexie flowers outside and photographed them in our apricot tree which is in full bloom.

Also, I FINALLY finished "My Jane" block F-8. I had so much difficulty with those little slanted parts on the outside edges. It was ridiculous how much time I spent on them. I finally just sewed the pieces together with the template method and then attached them to the rest of the paper-pieced middle.

All's well that ends well.

That is all.

The Flower Ball and Argyle Quilt-Along

Encouraging Words of the Day:
Be strong and courageous, for your work will be rewarded. ~ 2 Chronicles 15:7, NLT
I've been busy, not sewing but getting ready for others to sew for me. By now everyone knows how I love "hexies." Well, recently I ran into a Quilting Bee called "Get Your Hex On #3." Two Bees are already completely filled and well on their way to creating hexie treasures. Bee #3 is just getting started and I'm the first Queen Bee. I found his interesting wall hanging called "The Flower Ball," by Geta Grama, Copyright 2012.

I think it's gorgeous. It's not made up of perfect hexie shapes but rather odd-shaped hexies in order to give the ball it's 3-D look. I divided the ball up into hexie flowers with a few cream-colored hexies around it. Each member of the Bee, including myself, will sew up a group which I will later sew together to form the ball. I'm excited about this but, as usual, the prep work takes a while, especially when you have to explain to others what you're trying to do.
I'm also working on the "Argyle Quilt-Along" tutorial by Jess at "Quilty Habit." It's an interesting and supposedly fast quilt to make. Here's what I've done so far.
I hope your Monday has been lovely.
That is all.

One Flower Wednesday and My Jane C-7

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. ~ Psalm 23:6, NLT

Once again we find ourselves at "One Flower Wednesday." I guess I'll be working on these little 1/2 inch hexie flowers for a long time. So far I've made 94. So here are 3 more little flowers:

Click on “One Flower Wednesday” to see flowers others have made.

I decided that I've neglected "My Jane," what with my new embroidery machine and all so I worked on a block for quite a while. F-8 is giving me fits trying to paper piece little slanted pieces together.

I don't know why that was so hard for me but I finally stitched the slanted pieces together and then stuck them to the paper-piecing background paper. I still need to sew the pieces together. Meanwhile, here is C-7 which I finished earlier. This one was paper-pieced and applique.

That is all.

Happy Birthday and 300th Post Giveaway Winners

Encouraging Words of the Day:

The Random Number Generator has picked the two winners of my "Happy Birthday & 300th Post Giveaway." Today's post is # 300 and I ended up having to count today. Fortunately I didn't have to count up to 300 but for some reason the numbers next to comments on my post are no longer appearing and I couldn't figure out how to fix them so when #42 was chosen,

I had to count down and find that the first winner is Gene Black from "Gene Black-Alabama Artist". Gene chose the Jungle Prints so those will be on their way to Gene as soon as I receive your snail mail address.

For the second winner I didn't have to count as far to the selected #6

who is Linda from "linsuray." The Springtime prints will also be on their way to you as soon as I receive your address. I'm sending an email to each of you as soon as I finish this post.

Thanks to everyone who helped me celebrate my birthday and 300th post by entering the giveaway.

That is all.
