One Flower Wednesday in the Texas Hill Country

Encouraging Words of the Day:

God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God. ~ Ephesians 2:8, NLT

I've been reading a few blogs posts lately about bloggers in a funk; not much sewing and not much blogging. I can say that I can definitely relate. I've been feeling the same way. I've managed to post once a week on "One-Flower Wednesday." Karen provides a linky for those interested in posting the flowers they make and she does keep us on-task. In my case, she also keeps me posting once a week. That's the only sewing I've been doing. We're at our little ranch in the Texas Hill Country and I sewed hexie flowers on the 7-hour road trip here. We live 12 miles outsite of town so I also sew on the ride to town and back so I've made several 1/2-inch hexies. I've made 15 flowers but consider that I've had to do all the prep work and then sew them into flowers. I say that like no one else has to do that so nevermind. Now I have 143.

I have to save the rest of them for other "One-Flower Wednesdays" in case my sewing really slows down. Here are 3 of them.

I'm going to try to get my mojo back by sewing a little baby quilt while at the ranch. This will be donated to Linus at the hospital where my sister works.

That is all.

On the way to Texas Hill Country on One Flower Wednesday

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing. ~ Psalm 143:10, NLT

It's "One-Flower Wednesday" and we're on our way to the Texas Hill Country. We spent a week in El Paso, well almost a week. We spent a lovely weekend in New Mexico visiting my parents, brother, and sister. I made three hexie flowers on the trip to New Mexico. Here's a little 1/2-inch flower. I know have 128.

Then I made these two flowers for my swap partner in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap." She requested flowers made of red, taupe, and/or brown Civil War fabric with cream centers. Here they are:

Short post today since we're getting ready to leave on this 7-hour road trip. I'll make some more hexie flowers.

That is all.

Nothing But UFOs in 2013

Encouraging Words of the Day:

For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. ~ Psalm 84:11a, NLT

I've got 3 finished UFOs to show in Carrie's "Nothing but UFOs in 2013" group.

First of all, the ugly maroon quilt is finished. My sister assures me that it's pretty. I think I just got tired of the "sameness" of the colors. Here it is in all it's glory:

Then I'll have a little wall hanging for Christmas. This has been two years in the making and ended up with an acceptable (to me) flaw. It signifies the 12 Days of Christmas with the first block being composed of 1 piece, the 2nd block is made up of 2 pieces, the 3rd of 3 pieces and so forth. Somehow, in my "hurry up and get it done" manner, I managed to sew the last row which should be blocks 10, 11, and 12 backwards. They will forevermore in this wall hanging be blocks 12, 11, and 10. Well, block #11 ended up in the right place.... Here is is:

And my third UFO was the Flower Ball. My friends in the "Get Your Hex On" Quilting Bee helped me finish it by making the various flowers. Then I finished putting it together and quilted it by stippling.

That is all.

On the Way to El Paso on One Flower Wednesday

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Through Jesus, the entire world can come to know God. Acts 10:35 says, "In every nation God accepts those who fear him and do what is right." God accepts all who worship him; he works through people regardless of their race, gender, or nationality.

We're leaving Fresno today after spending two wonderful weeks with our daughter and her family. As usual, the time went by too fast and the good-byes were no fun. Now my husband and I are sitting in the airport waiting to board our flight back to El Paso and it's "One-Flower Wednesday" in California again. I made one lone hexie flower for this week. The picture I've taken in the airport is not too good. You can see our plane in the background and part of my little flower.

Short post today since we're getting ready to board. See you in El Paso.

That is all.
