Happy Birthday to Me Giveaway Winner!

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Be on guard. Stand firm in the faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love. ~ 1 Corinthians 16:13-14, NLT

It was a wonderful birthday, thanks to my family and friends. My sister cooked a delicious dinner and she and our nephew brought it to our house one night so we wouldn't have to leave the house (remember my husband is recuperating from surgery). She also baked a gorgeous strawberry cake which we scarfed down so fast that I wasn't able to take a photo. And of course Ida and Josh came bearing gifts. Among them was this lovely pincushion in a frame that Ida made. She embroidered the fabric and "somehow" put it into a gorgeous picture frame so it stands up. Hard to describe so here's a photo along with a pretty notepad and a beautiful scarf she crocheted (Ida can do anything).

Well, I know you're wondering about the giveaway so the random number generator says:

Congratulations, Sophie. I'll be sending you an email requesting your mailing address. Thanks to all of you, my blogging friends for the "Happy Birthday" wishes and for your friendship. I love sharing our lives on our blogs. I enjoy reading about what's going on with you and learning from you.

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday and Giveaway Reminder

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. ~ Isaiah 41:10, NLT

"One-Flower Wednesday" once again and I have two little flowers to show you - bringing my total to 183.

Also completed are two flowers for my February partner in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap." She requested flowers in Civil War fabric.

And finally, this hexie project completed for a hive member of the "Get Your Hex On Bee." She's planning table runners with her hexies.

All this hexie sewing is why I only completed two flowers for myself this week.

I know what I'm doing....

Encouraging Words of the Day:

I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me. ~ Psalm 16:8, NLT

I've been working on completing my House Quilt and have the top completed.

Next, time for sandwiching. Well...I know what I'm doing, ok? I been sewing forever. SO, the batting I'm using for the house quilt is some I snagged at an estate sale. It was all wrinkled, so I wet it a little and threw it in the dryer. I don't need to read what the batting is made of or anything. Didn't I say I know what I'm doing?

Fine then. Back to square 1.

Happy Birthday to Me Giveaway

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him! ~ Psalm 34:8, NLT

Happy Birthday to Me! I'm celebrating with all my followers by having a giveaway. I've been wanting to start using my stash instead of constantly adding to it so I've pulled 7 fat quarters for my giveaway because I'll be 67 years old. That's a little easier than trying to think of something to sew with them :) and a lot easier than giving away 67 fat quarters although that would certainly thin out my stash. There are 4 turquoise/aqua colored fat quarters from various designers and 3 fat quarters from "1001 Peeps Arabian Nights" by Andover. The Arabian Nights are so pretty but I've never been able to think of anything to make with them so maybe someone else will use them. Also included is a pocket-sized tape measurer, a little tablet for your notes, and a book called "Redwork, Winter Twitterings" which consists of embroidery designs. I sometimes crochet and have added a little dishcloth I made so if you're a follower and interested in any of this and would like to own it, just leave me a comment.

I'll draw a winner on Thursday night, Feb. 27th.

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday on Wednesday?

Encouraging Words of the Day:

Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. ~ Ephesians 3:20, NL

It's been a while since I've posted flowers on WEDNESDAY for "One-Flower Wednesday." Lately I've been posting late but today, ta da! Here they are on Wednesday.

My mailbox recently held these lovely flowers from in Cindy from Utah, my partner in the "Inchy-Hexagon Flower Swap." They're so pretty. Thanks, Cindy.

An update on "Good-Night, Irene." I have been working on it and have 2 1/2 rows done. This quilt-along is being hosted by Terry from "Terry's Treasures" and is made up largely of 2.5 inch squares.

That is all.

Back Home and Sewing

Encouraging Words of the Day:

The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him. ~ Nahum 1:7, NLT

We're back home from the hospital now and my husband is recovering well. Thank you, all of my blogging friends. Your concern and words of encouragement were overwhelming. Thanks so much for your prayers and support. Prayers going back at you.

Since we've been home, I've been able to get into my sewing room. Yay! Two of "My Jane" blocks have been completed. She thought I had forgotten her.

This is F-2 and
this is K-1

And I've decided to finally get working on my House Quilt. I've made sure all my squares measure 12.5 inches. Now I'm off to find fabric to frame each square plus finding the sashing. I hope I can find it all in my stash since I really need to work on using that rather than purchasing more fabric.

That is all.

One Flower Thursday at the Hospital

Encouraging Words of the Day:

I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you've received it, it will be yours. ~ Mark 11:24, NLT

I'm sitting in the hospital praying for my husband's good health. God has been by his side and he is showing great improvement and will probably be going home tomorrow. Meanwhile, I sewed a few flowers sitting in a hospital room and am realizing that "One-Flower Wednesday" was yesterday so I'm posting Thursday flowers. Again.

My total is now 179 flowers.

That's all I'm posting for now because people keep coming in and bugging us what with taking temps and blood-pressure and other things we actually do want them to be doing.

That is all.

One Flower Wednesday in Miramar Beach

Encouraging Words of the Day:

May he grant your heart's desires and make all your plans succeed. ~ Psalm 20:4, NLT

"One-Flower Wednesday" in Miramar Beach, Florida. It's cold here too but we're enjoying our time with friends. I'm quickly posting my flowers:

That's a white cat wearing a yellow skirt in the center of the pink flower. My total is now 176 flowers.
