Thanks for your prayers.

Encouraging words of the day:
For each new morning with its light,
Father, we thank thee.
For rest and shelter of the night,
Father, we thank thee.
For health and food, for love and friends,
For everything thy goodness sends,
Father in heaven, we thank thee.

Thank you for your prayers for my family and friends who are experiencing a terrible fire in the Ruidoso Downs/Hondo Valley area of New Mexico.  The fire is 35% contained. They are expecting it to be fully contained by Saturday. Total acreage is 10,341 acres. That is a huge fire! 8 miles long and about 2 wide.  Over 400 personnel are working the fire. The winds are expected to increase today. The Forest Service is still investigating the cause although they are saying it is "human caused".

Although I keep checking the internet and family about the fire, I am still sewing.  It’s “One-Flower Wednesday.”  Here’s my flower of the week:
I have received a beautiful flower from my swap partner in the "Inchy Hexagon Flower Swap."  The picture does not do it justice.  Some of the hexies are embossed and textured, the colors are beautiful and I am so lucky to own this hexie.  Thanks, Shruti.

I finished Block 12 of the “Layer Cake Quilt-Along.”  This block was designed by Joan Lucchese and is our last block in the quilt-along.  Now we have to figure out how to put the blocks together.

Giveaways I've run into while checking blogs:

"Fabric Seeds"  has a charm pack to giveaway – ends April 15th.

"We Love Quilting"  is having a surprise box giveaway.

"Kool Beenz" is giving away a jelly roll - ends April 8th.

Nothing is happening with my UFOs, as usual.  One of these days I'll surprise you by actually accomplishing something.

That is all.

Please pray for my family and friends.

Encouraging words of the day:
God is our hope and strength,
a very present help in trouble.
Therefore will we not fear, though the earth be moved,
and though the hills be carried into the midst of the sea;
Though the waters thereof rage and swell,
and though the mountains shake at the tempest of the same.
There is a river, the streams whereof make glad the city of God,
the holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.--- Psalms 46: 1-4

Please pray for my family and friends who are experiencing a terrible fire in the Ruidoso Downs/Hondo Valley area of New Mexico.  Reported around 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Ruidoso Downs area, the fire has grown rapidly because of the day's sustained 40 m.p.h. winds. At last count it spanned around 6,500 acres and was completely uncontained.

I worked on my “PennyHaren Applique” block for this week.  This one was pretty easy and is called Michael Squared.

Also got my birdhouse done for the “House Block Quilt-Along.”  These house blocks have all been fun to sew.

Whine, whine

Encouraging words of the day:

The LORD will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O LORD, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me. - Psalm 138:8,

I spent most of yesterday with my husband and sister buying plants for our yards, going over my sister’s fabric stash (she gave me some), and going out to lunch.  We were able to find some beautiful orange geraniums.  The orange is my favorite color but it seems like those are the most difficult color to find around here.  We found 3 beautiful orange geraniums along with pink, white and red so we bought every color.

The blocks I'm making for the   "Block Lotto"    took forever.  Everyone on the blog has commented about how happy they are that they are so easy to sew up.  Not for me.  “They” say it’s good to get out of our comfort zone from time to time but I’m beginning to wonder if I have a comfort zone.  All the blocks have been a challenge for me.  I know, whine, whine.  Well, on second hand, I am very comfortable sewing my hexie flowers.  That is really relaxing for me.
Here are 4 of the blocks for this month called “Clover” in the  "Block Lotto"

I’m working on my Spring birdhouse for House Block Quilt-Along and nothing is happening with my UFOs.
That is all.
