WOOFA Progress

While I was trying to decide which of my UFOs to start working on to link up to WOOFA, my sister Ida from "My Sister Made Me Do It" decided to start a new UFO.  I had given her a copy of "Long Time Gone Quilt" by Jen Kingwell in 2018, the year I started mine.  I worked on my "Long Time Gone" quilt from time to time.  Well, Ida decided to start hers and sibling rivalry being what it is, I had to get back to mine before she had more of the blocks done than I did.

Long story longer...I had to get to the cutting table and get busy.  It seems like it always takes longer to cut out the pieces than it does to sew them together.

Then I started with the Bow Tie Block. It looks easy enough to sew up and since I know what I'm doing,  after all, I've been sewing since I was 14 (many many years ago) so I proceeded to sew the block "all wrong."  My bow ties were all going to be white surrounded with the fabrics that were supposed to make up the bow ties. Back to the cutting table....

Then, still working on the premise that "I know what I'm doing..." I proceeded to sew one block correctly and the other WRONG AGAIN!

Finally, here are the finished 2 blocks required.

While I was on a roll, I decided to do one more block since Ida is fast catching up. I sewed the Jacob's Ladder block and did it all correctly the first time.

I am linking up to WOOFA today....please click on this LINK or on the WOOFA image to go visit Cheryll's blog and see all the progress being done by other bloggers joining the challenge.

That is all.

I can't believe I had that book for 2 years and never decided to try making Long Time Gone til now.....and the truth be told, if I hadn't decided to re-organize my sewing room and filter through my books it would probably still be there quietly waiting for me to look at it again. I'm so glad you joined the WOOFA challenge and you are going good with LTG......I know about sewing stuff backwards when "I know what I'm doing".......

Nothing like a competitive sister!!! Sometimes it’s the easiest blocks that we sew all wrong BECAUSE we know what we’re doing. Looking forward to seeing both of these quilts.

Nothing like a bit of pressure to make us move. I think that we have all been there with the "I know what I am doing" thing. Well done on getting them right.

Ah well we have all done that and will do it again. That's what seam rippers are for :)

What a great effort to work on your WOOFA. Every now & then errors creep into our projects... but you had the necessary patients to correct them. Great job.
I love that you have a "sister rivalry" going too...lol...xox

So glad I don't have to compete with my sister. Of course she uses a machine but makes about five to my one.

We all do that even though we've sewn for many years...
Blocks all look great in the end.
Great to have sis to push you along as well as the WOOFA challenge.
