Be on guard. Stand firm in the
faith. Be courageous. Be strong. And do everything with love. ~ 1 Corinthians 16:13-14, NLT
I participated in Blogtobrfest
last year and am again participating this year.
Blogtoberfest is an annual blogging festival and a wonderful opportunity
to:
* challenge yourself to blog
every day for 31 days
* discover kindred blogging
spirits
* carve out a tiny slice of time
each day to write and to read
* share any creative projects
you have on the go
* host a giveaway, if you feel
inclined to spread the love (I'm getting my giveaway together and will post it soon - sometime in October...).
So saying, here's my first post for the month of
October. Last year I didn't quite post
every day. Let's see how I do this
October. We spent the weekend in New
Mexico visiting my parents, sister and brother and had a wonderful time painting my parent's house. I worked on some hand-sewing on the 2-hour
trip and finished a couple of
hexathons. They're pretty interesting to
sew up and often incorporate the use of 1-inch hexies.
I've also pulled my Penny Haren applique quilt out of its
UFO status. I completed the blocks last August (2011) and
took forever to find a fabric I liked for the sashing. Now I've started cutting out the fabric and
actually have the blocks on my design wall.
We'll be spending most of the month of November at our Hill Country
ranch so I'm doing the prep work so I can sew on this quilt top while there.
They're all crooked on my design wall but I will try to sew them together straighter. On the bottom row, you can see the fabric I chose for the sashing.
I'm ending this post now so I can save some stuff to write
about tomorrow so...
that is all.

I know I wouldn't have a fat chance to blog every day for a week, let alone a month. It would take me so much time to make the posts that I would have no time left to create anyway. I love those hexies and your design wall looks very happy.
Good luck with the blogging! I sometimes have a hard time 1x a week! Love your new spooky header!
Good luck on your quest to blog every day. I love your hexathons, and I can't wait to see your quilt.
THose hexies are just works of art. I'm going to HAVE to try and make them. I love the complex geometry. So neat! Thanks for the give away idea Irene - I was just trying to think of what I can do for the blogtoberfest giveaway!
Love those hexies and your design wall quilt looks fantastic! Love those teal colors in it & your sashing pick! Good luck blogging daily! Looking forward to your posts!
I always look forward to seeing what you have put around your little "Hilachas" house for the change of season and I love all the spider webs and "spookiness"! Your hexathons are beautiful. I love the hexagon petals in the first one, especially. I agree with most of the comments that say there is no way I could blog everyday but I'll be here everyday to read yours!
I'll look forward to your daily posts :*) I wish I could find the time to post every day, but I don't seem to know how to keep them short and simple, so a post takes me forever to put together! Maybe I'll get better at it as I go along.
This would have been fun to participate in however, surgery today so no posting for me after this for awhile.
Wow Irene the hexathons are so pretty Irene, well done... All the best for your daily blogging posts...
Good luck with your postings.
I love the block with the inner star!!! Also the design wall looks awesome.
